Help Us Bring Art, Music and Dance into the lives of Special Needs, Underprivileged and Minority Students....
Because Every Child Deserves a Front-Row Seat to Creativity
The S.E.L.(Social Emotional Learning) Art Project is committed to providing access to art, music and dance to students with special needs, students who are underprivileged and students who are minorities.
A New York City school volunteer then a substitute teacher, Lisa Black-Cohen worked exclusively with students diagnosed with special medical/psychiatric/socio-economic needs. Medical and Psychiatric diagnoses such Autism, ADHD, Emotionally Disturbed, Anxiety, Depression, Hearing/Visually/Speech impairments, Non-verbal, Physical or Psychological abuse; to socio-economic challenges that involved being housed in homeless Shelters or in Foster Care, Black-Cohen has worked exclusively with this population. Black-Cohen noted how her lessons on Art, Music and Dance helped decrease student anxiety and increase student self-confidence.
During Covid, an educational opportunity for Black-Cohen to earn a masters in contemporary art from Sotheby's Institute of Art presented itself. Black-Cohen graduated, then merged the worlds of Art, with her Educational experience, and the The S.E.L. Art Project was born.

- Field Trips: Cover costs to hire bus/car-service to-and-from venues, and meals and snacks for the students.
- Creative Products: Cover costs to provide students with pens, pencils, notepads and tote bags on each trip.
- Publishing Children’s Books: Cover costs to write, illustrate, edit, publish, market and distribute a children's book on Climate Change, based on the artwork by world-renowned British artist James Earley. Costs will also include developing online games, jigsaw puzzles and ancillary products based on the same artwork.
