The Seed and Spear will be a free monthly musical gathering of creatives looking to heal together, learn from arts leaders, build our collective civic capacity, and help amplify current advocacy efforts in the Bay Area and beyond. Each event will be a 3-hour gathering, hosted at the prestigious Airship Laboratories Recording Studio, that will feature four programming sections: a house band performance featuring youth, a facilitated community forum, a second band performance, and a featured exhibition booth. Local, affordable food will be available for purchase in a pop-up format, with a small selection of libations provided. A joyful, healing vibe will be maintained throughout the series. All participating artists will be paid living wages for their services, and each event will feature local arts students and/or providers in different sections of the program.
Our Mission Statement:
1) To provide a platform for collaborative civic engagement between professional musicians, arts educators, advocates, students, and industry leaders;
2) To create living wage opportunities for professional musicians;
3) To build on existing arts organizing efforts to cultivate a unified and agile body of creatives that will rapidly amplify community needs to local and regional government;
4) To model and present intergenerational cultural exchange between professionals and youth;
5) To do all this in a casual and fun hang that will refill the cups of our artists, community members, and youth.
