My name is Joseph Medeiros, and I've decided to memorize Homer's Odyssey and create performances around reciting it in Ancient Greek
I made a performance for book 1 in my own home in Queens.
I made a performance for book 2 that I performed in city parks over the summer of 2021 (which you can read more about here in The New Yorker)
And now I'm going to bring book 3 to living rooms across the city and the country
I'll fit the entire performance into a rolling suitcase and a briefcase so I can show up at your home and entertain you and your guests for the evening by retelling the story of Telemachus traveling to Nestor's home to see if he can find anything out about his missing father, Odysseus.
But in order to do that, I need to raise some money
I'm starting with a $5,000 goal.
This will cover materials for

as well as 1 month of studio time.
But if I can raise another $5,000 in addition to that, it will afford me the full time it will take to work on and construct the performance itself.
It will take a few months just to memorize the 497 lines of book 3. And then there's the time it will take to design and construct the physical production, which will include
- projections
- custom electronics
- handmade props
