This is a solo rendition of Homer’s Odyssey, conceived, designed, and performed (in Ancient Greek) by Broadway performer Joseph Medeiros.
Joseph has completed the first three books, or chapters, of the poem. Each one is presented in a site-specific setting that mirrors and reveals something essential about the text. He is now developing a 6-hour, durational solo performance of the first four books, The Telemachy.
This is the Odyssey like you have never encountered it before. Joseph acts out the story, but it’s more than mere plot points. He has infused the poem with his psyche in a dizzying meditation on the self, growing up, and one’s role in society.
The piece is performed in Ancient Greek without subtitles, but he uses every tool at his disposal to make the experience accessible.
Your support will help Joseph and the team to produce a public workshop of The Telemachy in January at Theaterlab. A full production will be mounted in the Fall 2025.
