Everyone has a voice. Even in moments of silence, we still have a voice. I have dedicated my life's work in the theatre to excavating the depths of the human condition. Delving into themes of trauma, resilience, and survival is not a painless process but the profound examination of personal and collective struggles offers a transformative journey of escape and healing. Each show aims to illuminate the power of the human spirit to endure and rise above adversity.
The trifecta of social injustice, economic distress, and a global health crisis in recent years offered the opportunity to deepen my knowledge and passion in the areas of equitable treatment of those who are marginalized.
Theatre Beyond Broadway (“TBB”) is a platform that fosters and promotes independent artists. It is in our spaces that we can take the risks through unconventional storytelling and staging while connecting with our community.
Goals:
1. Expand TBB into a more robust company to create a pipeline for producing and promoting bold new works.
2. Continue to produce current shows:
- Notes from a Narcissistic Negro and Other N Words (written and performed by Elizabeth June, directed by Malini Singh McDonald): Awarded Best Solo Show at United Solo Festival; Upcoming: SoloFest 2025 in Los Angeles.
- The DNA Project (ongoing).
- Runtime Error by Elana Gartner.
3. Maintain and grow TBB’s community platforms, including our website and social media, to further amplify independent voices.
