"The Teacher" is a one-woman show written and performed by Mary Andrews, a veteran chemistry teacher whose lifelong struggle with emotional regulation has played out against the backdrop of America's classrooms. Weaving together memoir, scene work, and song — including the music of Stephen Sondheim — the show asks what happens when the person responsible for nurturing others was never properly nurtured herself. Beginning with an invited staged reading in New York City, The Teacher moves toward full public performance for audiences of educators, theater lovers, and anyone who has ever had to fight to become their best self.
