About

The Valley Beneath Us explores the intricate, often overlooked mental health struggles faced by Black men in America.

Lee, a houseless, aspiring journalist, receives a letter from his estranged mother: his younger brother has taken a vow of silence. Seeing a potential story that could revive his stalled career, Lee returns home with a plan to document his brother’s silence.

But what begins as a calculated move soon unravels into a painful journey through the buried memories of his childhood. As Lee digs deeper, he must confront the trauma he tried to escape—and decide whether to be a victim of his past or finally begin to heal from it.
