The Westchester Center for Jazz and Contemporary Music was created to provide opportunities for musicians of diverse backgrounds, abilities and ages to learn and play jazz and related forms of modern music. We believe like the great Duke Ellington that “There are two kinds of music. Good music, and the other kind.” In keeping with this our offerings at WCJCM will also include ensembles and classes for other styles of contemporary music from rock and funk, to pop.
Our goal is to create a school that provides an environment where professional musicians can mentor new musicians and will give young adults the opportunity to perform with professional musicians. We believe that the teaching and advice provided by working professional musicians is unique and it serves to promote the art form and develop the next generation of musicians.
We believe that everyone should have access to quality music education, and no one will be excluded based on their ability to pay. WCJCM is a center for learning and for performing open for all ages and levels of ability.
