Hystera is the world premiere of a new play by Loretta Spurgin that asks a deceptively simple question: what if becoming a “good person” is the thing that’s making you unwell? Developed over two years and produced by an all-female team, the play centers a feminist Bible study group where friendship, faith, and self-improvement begin to blur into something more complex and controlling.
