Sundown: The Podcast Musical — A Musical Fable of the Old West —The Legendary Story of the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral

Sundown will be the fourth series in the Theater Of The Imagination podcast, following Rosemary And Thyme, our podcast musical in sixteen episodes.

Theater Of The Imagination is a Watchfire Music initiative that is helping lead the emerging art form of the podcast musical, bringing fully integrated musical storytelling to people around the world—including those who may never have the chance to attend a Broadway show or a national tour.

Through original music, dialogue, and immersive sound, we invite listeners to create the world of each story in their own imaginations.

Our productions have reached audiences in more than 140 countries, with over 53,000 downloads and views.

Now we’re bringing the legendary story behind the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral
to life as a three-episode podcast musical.

--

A story of friendship, greed and the power of love.

The legendary gunfight at the O.K. Corral lasted less than sixty seconds. But those fleeting moments of the late nineteenth century grew rapidly into an American myth, one that informs our national character to this day.

Sundown explores the myth and those larger-than-life men and women who unwittingly formed it: the Earps, the Clantons, the McLaurys, and the unlikely duo of Doc Holliday and Cattle Kate Fisher.

Their story, which culminates on a dusty street in Tombstone, Arizona, is an American romance.

--

Combining comedy, drama, romance, and a contemporary country score, Sundown looks beyond the familiar showdown to reveal the humanity behind the legend.

--
Sundown was created as a stage musical with music by Peter Link,  book by Joe Bravaco and Larry Rosler, and lyrics by Larry Rosler. It was developed through the ASCAP Musical Theatre Workshop and the York Theatre Company in New York. After its world premiere at Lyric Stage in Texas, the musical went on to productions across the country, including The Barter Theatre in Virginia and The Adobe Theater in New Mexico.

--

Now Sundown is being reimagined as a full-cast, fully produced podcast musical for Theater Of The Imagination.

This new production will bring the story to life through dialogue, songs, underscoring, and sound effects — creating an immersive musical experience that listeners can enjoy wherever they are.
