About

I produce creative, accessible live music projects that bring a mix of contemporary, classical, and experimental repertoire to audiences paired with a high level of musical skill. My work emphasizes accessibility, artistic experimentation, and creating welcoming spaces for deep listening, experimentation, and fun. Projects are presented in venues ranging from the traditional (concert halls, museums) to the unexpected (machine shops, tattoo parlors).
"Bach & Pancakes" is an ongoing series featuring the music of JS Bach played by a diverse range of instruments and styles. Pancakes are made and served to an all-ages audience on the spot.

Thistle Music is named for my Scottish grandmother – a symbol of resilience and strength. I love the image of this tough, enduring little plant. It's a real challenge to be an artist in today's world – especially in the US – and I think the thistle represents this beautifully.
"Nordic Pop" featured five vocalists singing music by Aurora, Lykke Li, Björk, and more, backed by a string quartet and percussion ensemble.

Thistle Music is dedicated to supporting artists who are working at a high level, creating projects that meld experimentation with accessibility; playfulness, joy, and creativity with hard work and dedication. Productions are often all-ages and draw a wide range of audience members from different backgrounds. Keeping things accessible and fun is as important as being visionary and creative.
"Hildegard Sessions" featured a powerhouse string quartet playing music from the Middle Ages to the 21st century, performed in a working machine shop.

Projects are often highly collaborative. I am lucky to work with musicians and other artists who are performing at the top of their game. Keeping a project interesting, fulfilling, and financially successful is as important as the end result.
EJF is a mini-arts festival featuring a range of artists from across disciplines.
