Thank you and Happy Summer!

Dear friends,

Thank you so much for supporting our End-of-Season Fundraiser. Because of you we had a fantastic Season Finale in the Lincoln Center area and in Strawberry Fields in Central Park. We also were able to premier a new piece, Strawberry Solstice, that is dedicated to our friend and former tilter Sean Satin R.I.P.

Keep an eye out on our social media. We have plenty of pictures and videos from the event that we'll be posting a little at a time over the upcoming weeks. Again, this concerts are FREE to the public and you're a HUGE part in making that happen.

We are mentioned in the last couple paragraphs of this great interview with one of our members, Dean, but we were also interviewed and covered by The New Yorker. We will be a feature in the Talk of the Town section about a month from now. We'll post that in our social media for sure when it comes out.

Now, we're developing new work during the summer for our lucky Season 13 up ahead.

Thank you all,
Patrick & Tilted Axes

Tilted Axes performances are always free to the public because of support from team members like you.

12th seasons strong, Tilted Axes: Music for Mobile Electric Guitars is a orchestra of guitarists and percussionists created by composer/performer Patrick Grant. We perform untethered and in motion via mini-amps strapped over their shoulders, cutting musical pathways through the urban landscape, turning neighborhoods into their own sonic narratives.

Tilted Axes brings music & movement into communities with pop-up performances. Their spectacles are sonic structures comprised of polyrhythmic patterns, post-rock riffing, and contemplative drones. They will move about the neighborhood as a procession with stops to perform on-site in different choreographic formations.

Recent seasons included new music from Patrick Grant, John Halo, Sarah Metivier Schadt, Dmitri Shapira and other core members.

Choreography is by Christopher Caines.

Tilted Axes can perform anywhere there are people, excelling in untraditional venues. Our roster of musicians can change from performance to performance, city to city. Musicians learn a common repertoire created by diverse composers and rehearse it in workshops. Our performances are free to the public and are supported through institutional and/or private donations. We believe that music is essential, and not merely ornamental, to our daily life.

Tilted Axes takes on aspects of spectacle informed by municipal band tradition, avant-garde theater, and world music. The project takes music 'out into the world' and seeks transformative situations meant to change community conversation. It is an apolitical organization, but it does support science, arts programs, and renewable energy whenever possible. Tilted Axes works best when it is part of something bigger than itself i.e. festivals, exhibitions, community initiatives, astronomical events. It's conceptual — and it rocks!
