Tonal Refraction

Tonal Refraction heightens holistic awareness of an individual’s perception of tone, empowering new levels of dramatic release for players, and of participatory pleasure for listeners. That power, put to the test in a pioneering 2018 concert series: Mozart: Modernist, moved the participating musicians to become The Tonal Refraction Ensemble: Artie Dibble, viola/violin; Dave Eggar, cello; Nancy Garniez, piano.  Two books, produced in collaboration with artist Cathrin Hoskinson, and videos by David Tecson illuminate works by Mozart, Schumann, Beethoven, and Brahms.  Our goal is to make these multi-media videos broadly accessible, especially to young people: to share our passion for great music outside of societal norms, and to stimulate creativity unconditioned by the usual educational or goal-oriented circumstances associated with Classical music.
