Small theater + 8 week run + early showtime = BIG impact
Potts is bringing the show to a small professional black box theater in Brooklyn. Too Fat for China will run once weekly on Tuesday nights at 6:30PM for eight weeks. This makes the show easy to get to and easy to sell out since the performances are right after work, and at a time that is not in competition with other theatrical events. The eight week run makes the show eligible for theater reviews from a number of media outlets, some of which Potts has already secured.
A film to be packaged by a streaming service
With eight performances we can film the show multiple times to make a beautiful film of the show. With an expert editor, we would create a sizzle reel to show to streamers. Streaming services can opt to buy all the raw footage to package themselves or pay for us to produce it.
Too Fat for China is a hilarious, introspective, and poignant glimpse into one woman’s journey to motherhood—warts and all. Potts weaves a masterful and compelling narrative of the unavoidable trauma, tragedy, and commodification that surrounds the adoption industry, along with the groundswell of primal love—from both birth and chosen family surrounding the process.
