About

Tragic to Magic is a feature-length documentary that begins with three mothers navigating the loss of their children through overdose, suicide, and murder and expands to reveal a growing global community of parents experiencing connection, signs, and transformation after loss.

After losing her 18-year-old son Jagger, filmmaker Amber Briscoe began experiencing moments that challenged her understanding of death and connection. What started as a deeply personal search for meaning quickly opened into a shared experience - one echoed by thousands of grieving parents around the world.

Through intimate storytelling, observational footage, and conversations with researchers and practitioners exploring consciousness and grief, the film traces a path from devastating loss to unexpected connection. Without asking the audience to adopt a specific belief system, Tragic to Magic invites a more open question: what if the relationship doesn’t end?

The film builds toward the Helping Parents Heal conference in August 2026, where more than 1,000 parents gather from across the U.S. and around the world. Filming this event will allow the project to expand beyond individual stories and capture the scale, diversity, and emotional reality of this emerging community.

Tragic to Magic is intended for wide audiences from those navigating grief to those simply questioning what we understand about life, death, and connection  - offering a grounded, human entry point into a subject often misunderstood or dismissed.
