Bring a picnic, grab a drink from the bar, and enjoy a summer evening of live theatre at the beautiful Clear Creek Amphitheatre in Old Fourth Ward, Atlanta. This production of "Twelfth Night" will be presented entirely for FREE, because Shakespeare should be accessible and enjoyed by all!
Performances are planned for 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays from October 7 - 22.
This production is being presented under the auspices of the Actors' Equity Association Members' Project Code. In order to reflect and celebrate the diversity of Atlanta, and so that audience members may best see themselves represented on stage, casting is diverse in ethnicity and gender identity. We are also excited to include live music and original compositions for this production by Lisa Pham, an accomplished cellist and pianist who serves on the Board of Directors for the Orvieto Music Festival in Italy.
This production aims to be entertaining and accessible for everyone. Director Cait Cortelyou has carefully gone through the script, making small cuts and subbing out archaic words. This version of Twelfth Night still retains the poetry of Shakespeare's text, but is friendlier to a contemporary ear.
The current outstanding budget for this production is $35K - these funds will cover the cost of the venue rental, costumes, microphones, props, and especially paying the cast and creative team. A detailed line-item budget is
available upon request. Audition and rehearsal space has been kindly loaned by the Tony Award-winning Alliance Theatre, for which Cait has taught Shakespeare and leads a
free weekly artist workshop.
All donations made are fully tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law, thanks to fiscal sponsorship under the umbrella of
Fractured Atlas.
Thank you for helping us in our mission to bring free, high-quality theatre to the community!
