'Understudy Vanya' is a new, devised work, following the rehearsal process of an understudy cast for a production of 'Uncle Vanya.’
This weeklong developmental workshop will be directed by Caitlin Ryan O'Connell and feature performers Joe Curnutte, Sallie Merkel, Boomie Pederson and Ezra Rose, with design and dramaturgy by Ásta Bennie Hostetter. Through conversation, improvisation and scene-work, the team will generate material for this ode to the unsung and impossible task of the understudy.
