VEIL is a 35mm short film that investigates the themes of desire, age, and gender dysmorphia. Following a flood in his studio, Christian, a talented tailor, decides to finally put his finest creation on, and embrace his true identity in the process. VEIL lives at the cross-section of PHANTOM THREAD and THE DANISH GIRL and explores the darker side of the industry deemed innocent.
Very few narrative pieces explore gender dynamics at the twilight of the character's life. We hope for this piece to be accessible to broad audiences of any age, inviting reflection and reexamination of one life through the visual metaphor of a dress. Collaborating with domestic LGBTQIA+ nonprofits following the premiere, we'd like the piece to reach less urban hubs of the country, where the concepts of drag and gender inquiries might be more foreign.
