This is a new recording project named at this time, Our Ukraine. We are arranging and composing around melodies collected by ethnomusicologist Moshe Beregovski in the 1930s in Bessarabia and Northern Ukraine. Our group is the trio, Veretski Pass; Cookie Segelstein on violin, Joshua Horowitz on accordion and cimbalom, Stuart Brotman on bass, with guest clarinetist Joel Rubin. We will be recording the last week of May 2024 into the first couple of days of June. And then we will tour with the project in June 2024. This project will be a mixture of Jewish in co-territorial, Ukrainian and Carpathian melodies.
