Walking Thru Bullets follows four clients in Healing Hurt People, a Philadelphia emergency department intervention program designed to help them recover from the physical and emotional wounds of violence. The program employs a trauma-informed approach that takes into account the trauma and adversity that clients have experienced during their lives and recognizes that addressing these issues is critical to breaking the cycle of violence.
With ongoing access into the lives of each client over a three-year period, the filmmakers reveal the humanity and complexity of these young victims - who, as poor young males of color, are too often portrayed by the media as dangerous street thugs deserving of their fate.
