When Katherine isn’t helping the women make pirogi at the Ukrainian church, she enters contests. Name in a hat, number in a fishbowl, games of chance…and when she wins a “make a wish" contest, she embarks on a cathartic, wild adventure with a lion at the zoo.
This surreal and quirky dark comedy stars veteran Broadway and film actor, Judith Roberts, who shares the screen with a very real lion made by visual artist Irve Dell.
Judith, along with award-winning filmmaker Abigail Zealey Bess, cinematographer Alan McIntyre Smith, writer Kira Obolensky and visual artist Irve Dell are collaborating to bring this weird and wonderful story to film with Weird Sisters Co- Producers Tessa Bagby and Josie Klein.
Weird Sisters was created as a not for profit theatre company in 1997 out of a common desire not only to promote women artists but also to create a place where we could present ideas that would be thought provoking, break down barriers and yet never lose the magic and the mystery of the human condition. The company continues to expand into new territories and in the last 20 years has crossed over to develop and produce film projects to support their cinematic vision. www.weirdsistersfilms.com
