Welcome to the Club is a documentary photography project that chronicles New York City’s wide array of social clubs and explores what it means to belong to a found family. The pandemic laid bare an epidemic of loneliness that had been brewing quietly for years. Through this project, I examine isolation through its opposite and document the inclusive spaces that unite groups of otherwise disconnected New Yorkers into tight-knit communities. The work is a mix of still photography, audio interviews, assemblage, and digital design, and aims to celebrate the human connections that bring us together rather than divide us.
