In 2015, unable to write “the little girl who lived in the library” children’s picture book, Sharon turned to the theater to write her story. At that moment, I saw a brave, inspiring film where a Black woman in her 50s dares to share her family’s story fully. A film that could share her talent and story far beyond the predominately white American theater with girls and women everywhere, but most especially girls and women of color.
