Wild She Dances' mission is to provide opportunities for professional artists through collaboration, while ensuring fair treatment and equitable compensation as core values. Through dance, we aim to engage our community through partnerships, outreach, education, and social justice advocacy. Our artistic vision is to create work through collaborative processes that explore a tenderness for humanity and the world we live in through gestural, visceral, and explosive movement. We organize community outreach initiatives and programming that is developed with the whole person in mind utilizing social-emotional movement practices.
For Spring 2024, the company is launching a new partnership with The Women's Home, offering monthly/bi-monthly Healing Movement Classes and will premiere new evening-length work, SOM, June 6-8, 2024 at Garage 713.
The company’s past community initiatives include partnerships with: (1) the International Rescue Committee, a global humanitarian aid, relief, and development organization, where we donated 25% of ticket proceeds, (2) The PILLARS NYC, a holistic substance-use recovery center, where we taught ongoing classes in dance movement and yoga for adults, as well as after-school youth dance classes. Having relocated the company to Houston, Texas, the company recently formed a new partnership with The Women's Home, where we teach Healing Dance & Expressive Movement workshops. We are passionate about continuing to make work that is socially-conscious and gives back to our community.
For the 2022-23 season, Wild She Dances proudly received the Houston Arts Alliance’s Let Creativity Happen Grant, which supported the creation and premiere of full-length work, "MILL: An Immersive Performance" at The Silo in Houston’s Fifth Ward.
