In The Conference of the Birds, a 12th-century mystical epic by Attar of Nishapur, all the birds of the world gather together to set out on a quest to discover the Simorgh, the Sovereign of the Birds. Ambassadors of global music Atash (six-time Austin Music Award winners for Best World Band), directed by Roberto Paolo Riggio, set off on a journey of their own gathering a diverse assortment of distinguished local artists and students to present a multidisciplinary series of performances based on Attar's poem and other world folklore, incorporating music, dance, theatre, and other artistic media. This long-term work shall be developed in stages through immersive workshops with diverse participants of all ages and levels of ability.
