Witney & I is a documentary work-in-progress detailing the experiences of Delaware native Quincy Rose-Lucas whose life was transformed by the tragic death of her sister, Dr. Witney Rose. Dr. Rose was prominent in her community and a second year Psychiatry resident at the University of Maryland Medical Ctr. Her life was cut short due to domestic violence: she was stalked and killed by her ex-boyfriend in 2003.
In the intervening years, Mrs. Rose-Lucas formed the Witney’s Lights Foundation to honor her sister’s memory and to bring about a heightened awareness of domestic violence on a local as well as national level. Consider this: 1 in 4 women either are victims of domestic violence or know someone who is. These statistics are staggering and need only be confirmed by recurring headlines or news clips.
However, a life lost to domestic violence is so much more than a mere statistic as this film readily documents. This is a story of sisterhood, loss, transformation and activism. The journey began with a devastating loss in 2003 and continues on to this day through the dedicated work of Quincy Rose-Lucas.
