About

Cole Garlando works through physical research, intuition, and inquiry. Interested in phenomenology and improvisation – Garlando believes in creative process as a vehicle for internal and societal r/evolution. There is the shadow made by light and then there is the dark.

A choreographer, writer, and transdisciplinary artist absorbed with ideas and non/material of LIGHT and TIME. Garlando shares writing on a website and also improvises poetry at performances and poetry nights.

Human Interviews began as sound scores for Garlando's choreographic work, improvisation classes, and public participation offerings. It is now a weekly radio show on WCRS.fm with episodes curated from hundreds of hours of interviews over the last decade with people from all over the world and wherever Cole is locally. It is growing in 2026 with new episodes and a  platform for access when not on-air.

In June 2026, Garlando came home to dancing after a long stillness. Returning to an autoethnographic practice of making visual art from movement, documenting time and light on the body, and reading works of revolutionaries to build and explore improvisation scores.
