Nicole Garlando is a maker.
Cole works in physical research, imagination, and intuition. Interested in cosmological theories, philosophical debate, and change – Garlando believes in creative process as inquiry and a vehicle for internal and societal r/evolution.
A choreographer, poet, and transdisciplinary artist, Cole is currently absorbed with ideas, theories and non/material of LIGHT and TIME.
THERE'S THE SHADOW MADE BY MASS AND LIGHT,
THEN THERE'S THE DARK.
AutoEthnography is a way to learn about self, reality, and perception. I research and make via my own creative/human processes by vetting decades of stories, choreographic sketchbooks, notes, poetry, paintings, footage, and ontological inquiry alone or with others – to study oneself, see and honor change. A creative or existential feedback loop.
Grateful for past support from the Cultural Arts Center; Creative Current; Feverhead; Wexner Center for the Arts; Mind and Life Institute; Greater Columbus Arts Council; Ohio Arts Council; Arts in Stark; Ferguson Foundation; Ray Travel Award; The Ohio State University.
I am an independent artist and educator. Donations here support my ability to live.
