About

We are a team of storytellers, children of war survivors, and memory-keepers on a mission to reclaim a history long left in the shadows.

Led by journalist and filmmaker Thanh Tan, Che’s Last Stand is more than a documentary—it’s a deeply personal journey to preserve the stories of South Vietnamese veterans who fought alongside the United States, only to be forgotten by both countries. This project was born from a simple question: What happens when the people who remember are no longer here to speak for themselves?

Our mission is to elevate unheard voices, challenge historical erasure, and spark intergenerational conversations that connect past and present. Through this film, we’re unearthing Cold War archives, capturing emotional oral histories, and illuminating the resilience of a community that continues to fight for visibility.

At the center of the story is Che Nguyen, an 86-year-old war hero and two-time Bronze Star recipient who survived imprisonment, exile, and displacement—and whose life reflects the complex, untold legacy of millions. As Thanh documents Che’s remarkable journey and grapples with her own inherited trauma, the film invites audiences to rethink what they know about the Vietnam War, its aftermath, and the roots of Asian American identity.

Our activities extend beyond the screen. We’re building community through listening sessions, educational programming, and public archives that honor the South Vietnamese diaspora. With every frame, we aim to preserve cultural memory, spark critical dialogue, and make space for a new generation to engage with their histories.

Our team includes award-winning producers, editors, researchers, and advisors with deep experience in documentary storytelling, diasporic history, and social impact. Together, we’re committed to crafting a visually rich, emotionally resonant film that ensures these stories won’t be lost to time or politics.

This isn’t just about documenting the past—it’s about shaping the future. We hope you’ll join us.
