About

A community activist champions the rights of undocumented poultry workers in their battle against powerful poultry executives, while also shedding light on the grueling plight of the marginalized chicken catchers at the industry's lowest rung. With a runtime of approximately 80 minutes, the film is centered on interviews with former chicken catchers and a compelling exploration of Magaly Licolli's role as a community activist and leader of Venceremos. Our lens will closely follow Magaly's journey as she organizes marches and protests, providing an insider's view into the process of social change. This narrative is further enriched by the extensive use of archival footage, offering a historical context and illustrating the deep-rooted history that informs the story we are telling. In sum, this documentary is an immersive, emotionally charged exploration of the lives and activism of chicken catchers, illuminating their stories while respecting their anonymity and safeguarding their futures. I believe I'm the right person to tell this story. With my unique perspective, I can provide an authentic portrayal of what it's like to be a chicken catcher in Arkansas. Magaly Licolli, the executive director of Venceremos, is always eager to share the experiences of poultry workers she represents. We also have easy access to the University of Arkansas archives for information. To protect the safety and anonymity of chicken catchers, especially those who are undocumented, we've secured the cooperation of privately owned chicken farmers willing to have their farms filmed for this project.
